A white that is not smooth: the ground is packed with broken quartz grain in white and pale grey, dense and even across the whole slab, with the occasional dark fleck scattered through it to give the eye something to hold. The look is close to a fine terrazzo — a real texture, with no vein and no direction.
That evenness is its practical advantage: there is no direction to plan and no vein that has to carry across a join, so it is forgiving over a long run, a large island or a floor. The grain also scatters light and hides surface scratches and crumbs better than a perfectly smooth white.
Anova Quartz is an Israeli maker and importer based in Be'er Sheva, supplying engineered quartz with a high quartz content and a twelve-year warranty (registered online after installation). The quartz is non-porous — it will not absorb wine, lemon or oil, it never needs resealing, and soap and water handle the daily clean. Like all engineered quartz it is not heat-proof, so a hot pan goes on a trivet rather than on the worktop.
