A clean, cool white crossed by the finest grey veins, like pencil lines — widely spaced, running crosswise, and barely visible from across the room. It is very nearly a plain white, with just enough marble in it to keep it from looking manufactured.

This is the choice when you want a white kitchen that is quiet but not sterile: enough pattern for the eye to find something, not enough to compete with the cabinetry, the splashback or the lighting. It gets along with almost anything.

Anova Quartz is an Israeli maker and importer based in Be'er Sheva, supplying engineered quartz with a high quartz content and a twelve-year warranty (registered online after installation). The quartz is non-porous — it will not absorb wine, lemon or oil, it never needs resealing, and soap and water handle the daily clean. Like all engineered quartz it is not heat-proof, so a hot pan goes on a trivet rather than on the worktop.
