A reading of the soapstone chefs favour: a deep blue-grey crossed by broad pale veins. In the suede finish it reads almost like brushed natural stone, and that is the finish we would steer you towards here.
A dark surface shows dust and marks more than a pale one — but unlike real soapstone, quartz does not scratch easily and never needs oiling.
