Ascale Amazonite

Named for the amazonite gemstone: a sea-green turquoise ground crossed by a web of white and gold-brown veins that break in every direction rather than run one way. This is not a colour that hides — it sets the tone of any room it lands in, so it works best against quiet cabinetry in white, pale timber or matte black, with nothing else competing.

Ascale is large-format sintered porcelain from the Spanish maker TAU Cerámica: a blend of minerals fired under high pressure and heat into a dense, non-porous slab. It absorbs nothing and never needs sealing, and resists scratching, staining, heat and UV, so it works on a worktop, on a floor and on an exterior façade alike. It comes polished or in the Velvet finish, in 1.2 cm on a 162 × 324 cm slab and in 0.6 cm on a 160 × 320 cm slab. The thin gauge is for cladding and splashbacks rather than for a worktop.
