Ascale Ceppo di Gre

From the Bodytech collection, named for the Lombard stone that has faced Italian buildings for centuries: a light, granular grey ground scattered with pale and dark pebbles at varying sizes. There is no vein and no direction — the pattern is even across the whole slab, which makes it unusually forgiving over a large run or a floor with many joins.

Ascale is large-format sintered porcelain from the Spanish maker TAU Cerámica: a blend of minerals fired under high pressure and heat into a dense, non-porous slab. It absorbs nothing and never needs sealing, and resists scratching, staining, heat and UV, so it works on a worktop, on a floor and on an exterior façade alike. Feel finish only — matte with a tangible stone texture that hides fingerprints and water marks and gives better grip underfoot when wet, which is what makes it suitable for stairs and bathrooms too. In 2, 1.2 and 0.6 cm, on 162 × 324 and 160 × 320 cm slabs.
